Unbelievable Speed 2025

Dhaka, May 20, 2025 — Starlink, the satellite internet service by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, has officially launched its operations in Bangladesh, marking a new era of connectivity for the country. The announcement was made on Tuesday via a Facebook post by Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser of the interim government. Starlink Officially Launches in Bangladesh with High-Speed Internet Plans Starting at Tk 4,200

The confirmation came after Starlink publicly acknowledged the rollout on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle earlier the same day.

Two Packages Announced

According to Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Starlink is launching with two monthly internet packages:

  • Starlink Residence – Tk 6,000 per month
  • Residence Lite – Tk 4,200 per month

A one-time setup cost of Tk 47,000 is required for the necessary equipment. Orders are now open for customers across Bangladesh starting Tuesday.

“There will be no speed or data limits,” Taiyeb said, adding that users can enjoy unlimited data at speeds up to 300 Mbps.

“Although expensive, this creates a sustainable alternative for premium customers to access high-quality and high-speed internet services.”

Government Target Met Within 90 Days

Taiyeb emphasized that the launch meets the interim government’s goal of operationalizing Starlink in Bangladesh within 90 days of authorizing the service. Starlink is classified as a Non-Geostationary Orbit (NGSO) satellite internet provider, and was granted approval to operate in the country earlier this year.

Advantages of Starlink in Bangladesh

  1. Nationwide Coverage
Starlink’s satellite technology bypasses the need for fiber infrastructure, allowing it to reach rural, coastal, and remote areas where traditional ISPs struggle.
  2. High-Speed, Uncapped Internet
With speeds up to 300 Mbps and no data limits, Starlink offers a premium experience for demanding users, such as freelancers, remote workers, and tech startups.
  3. Support for NGOs and Businesses
Taiyeb noted that the service will empower NGOs, entrepreneurs, and companies to expand operations into previously inaccessible regions, potentially transforming service delivery and rural economies.

Disadvantages and Concerns

  1. High Cost
The entry point—Tk 47,000 for equipment and up to Tk 6,000 per month—is far beyond what average households can afford, making it a luxury option for now.
  2. Limited Market Accessibility
Without government subsidies or tiered pricing, the service may be limited to urban elites and organizations, leaving out the broader population.
  3. Lack of Local Support Infrastructure
As an international service, questions remain about after-sales service, installation support, and local customer care, which are crucial for long-term adoption.

Looking Ahead

The launch of Starlink in Bangladesh comes at a time when the country is pushing for digital inclusion and improved internet access under its Smart Bangladesh vision. While the pricing may pose challenges for mass adoption, Starlink’s entry represents a technological leap forward, offering new opportunities for connectivity, economic development, and innovation.

For now, Starlink’s arrival is a premium solution—but its broader impact may unfold in the months to come as competition increases and pricing models evolve.
